The United States Army gave Germaine’s father an opportunity to provide for the family and gave Germaine an opportunity to craft his own path, using resources that would not have otherwise been available to him. Watching his dad serve the country and living the army values made him a patriot, committed to serving his country in the same way. Germaine joined the United States Army in 2002 and became a member of the Second Brigade, 108th Division. After his unit was mobilized, he was placed in a drill sergeant unit and dedicated his time towards training and serving other soldiers, preparing them for deployment readiness status.
Germaine served his country faithfully and received the Army Commemorative Medal for his eight years of service. He was also presented with the “wartime” campaign badge for providing service to the country during a time of war, the Army Global War on Terror that commenced after 911. Germaine still lives by the Soldier’s Creed and portrays many of the Army Values in his daily life, loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.
